When 11-year-old Anna Graceman entered the America’s Got Talent stage in 2011, she appeared composed and diminutive behind the keyboard, but as soon as she began to play, the entire audience transformed. For someone so young, Anna made the audacious decision to accompany herself on the piano while singing “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys.
Her voice wasn’t the only thing that made the audition so memorable; her confident piano playing, beautiful singing, and emotion well beyond her years all worked together. The act received a standing ovation, and the judges were clearly in disbelief. One of the most popular AGT audition videos at the time, it went viral very fast.
The audition was just the start. Anna’s AGT run helped her begin a lengthier career as a singer, songwriter, and performer, and she went on to place in the Top 10 in Season 6. Fans still recall that initial audition years later as evidence that true brilliance can be found in the smallest container.
