Christian Guardino, 16, appeared to be a typical teenager with a nervous smile and high expectations when he entered the America’s Got Talent stage. However, Christian’s tale already made him remarkable: due to a rare retinal illness, he was legally blind before receiving gene therapy to restore most of his vision.
The entire room shifted as he began singing “Who’s Lovin’ You” by The Jackson 5. His performance was the kind that causes an audience to go silent before erupting into applause. His voice was enormous, soulful, and full of emotion. Christian’s performance of the song left even Simon Cowell, who had just assisted him in calming down, looking shocked.
When Howie Mandel hit the Golden Buzzer at the conclusion, the crowd was standing, and Christian went through. Christian became a fan favorite almost immediately after the performance, which soon became one of the most memorable parts of AGT 2017.
