She Makes Pizzas by Day… Then One Song Leaves Simon Cowell Stunned

Summer Rios, 19, didn’t appear to be accustomed to the limelight as she entered the America’s Got Talent stage. What followed was even more unexpected because she identified herself as an Ohio-based Pizza Hut employee rather than a full-time performer.

She then began to sing.

The entire room transformed as soon as Summer spoke. The judges heard a deep, emotive voice that sounded much larger than they had anticipated, rather than a scared youngster with a day job. Her performance had that uncommon blend of strength and tenderness that causes people to stop chatting and pay attention. As the song progressed, Simon Cowell was truly impressed.

The contrast between the regular entrance and the outstanding voice was what made the audition so powerful. She didn’t require ostentatious staging or gimmicks. A pizza boss was quickly remembered by everyone in the room after just one sincere performance. By the end, it was obvious that Summer had come to prove she belonged there rather than merely try her luck.
