She Walked In Like a Pop Diva… and Turned the X Factor Stage Into Her Own Beyoncé Concert

It was obvious that this would not be a quiet, timid audition when Athena Manoukian took the stage of The X Factor UK. Arriving full of confidence, the Greek-Armenian singer informed the judges that she already had a fan base back home and was prepared to win over the UK as well.

Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love,” which she sang in a seductive, high-energy performance full of attitude, riffs, and deft choreography, was the perfect pick. Athena handled the audition more like a full-fledged pop show than a straightforward tryout, with the support of dancers and complete control over the stage.

Not all panelists were immediately persuaded. Ayda Williams acknowledged that she thought the performance was “a bit cheesy” at several points, while Louis Tomlinson genuinely disagreed. However, Robbie Williams and Simon Cowell perceived something more: star quality, presence, and significant pop potential. Athena advanced to the next stage with three “yes” votes, demonstrating that sometimes self-assurance, daring, and intense performance energy are just what it takes to stand out in a sea of auditions.
