The Soldiers of Swing, Vince and Lee, made an immediate impression when they entered the Britain’s Got Talent stage in 2020. They appeared to have walked out of another era, dressed in vintage military-style uniforms and exuding a strong sense of nostalgia. However, the obvious enjoyment they were going to have was what truly caught people’s attention.
The pair began a vibrant swing routine that combined dancing, singing, and wartime charm in a manner that was more akin to a theater production than a straightforward audition. Their timing was precise, their chemistry was strong, and the performance had that contagious, uplifting vibe that instantly makes everyone in the room smile. Instead than coming across as gimmicky, it was professional, lighthearted, and truly engaging.
The crowd grew louder as the performance progressed, clapping along and obviously enjoying the retro atmosphere. Everyone was reminded of the power of sheer showmanship during this type of audition. A BGT audition was transformed into a miniature time-travel party by Vince and Lee, who did more than simply sing.
