The Full Package: Alana Fox Channels Lady Gaga in a Showstopping IGT Audition
Finding a performer who possesses the voice, the look, and the stage presence to be a star is the ultimate goal of Ireland’s Got Talent. In the latest round of auditions, 19-year-old Alana Fox proved that she might just be the “full package” the judges have been searching for. Alana, a performing arts teacher from Dublin, is no stranger to the spotlight, having previously reached the bootcamp stage of The X Factor. However, this time, she was determined to make her mark as a solo artist.
Taking on Lady Gaga’s powerhouse hit “Shallow” is a daunting task for even the most experienced singers, but Alana nailed it. Her delivery was both delicate and powerful, showcasing a strong vocal “belt” that brought the auditorium to its feet. Louis Walsh, who actually remembered Alana from her previous talent show journey, declared her a “class act” and a natural pop star. Michelle Visage was equally effusive, predicting that Lady Gaga herself would be proud of the performance. With a clean sweep of four “yeses,” Alana Fox solidified her status as a frontrunner in the competition.
The episode also featured Daniel Cooney, a 21-year-old singer who had previously auditioned for Louis Walsh’s boyband, Hometown. Channeling his inner Justin Bieber, Daniel performed “Love Yourself” with undeniable confidence. However, the judges were split on his vocal ability, with Louis and Denise Van Outen feeling the performance was a bit too “karaoke.” Despite the setback, Michelle Visage and Jason Byrne saw potential, encouraging Daniel to keep working on his craft. While it wasn’t a “yes” for this year, Daniel’s passion for the stage remains as strong as ever.
