Mariah Carey Vibes and Marilyn Mashups! Charlotte McNamera and Orla McCormack Steal the Show on IGT!

Vocal Legacies and Marilyn Mashups: The Unforgettable Variety on Ireland’s Got Talent

The Ireland’s Got Talent stage was a whirlwind of legacy and creative reinvention this week. From the daughter of a legendary Irish pianist to a performer who dared to mash up Britney Spears with Marilyn Monroe, the night proved that talent—and the courage to be different—is everywhere in Ireland.

The show kicked off with Charlotte McNamera, an 18-year-old with serious musical royalty in her blood. Her father is Frank McNamara, the legendary pianist from The Late Late Show, and her mother is singer Theresa Lowe. Despite the high pressure, Charlotte delivered a soulful and technical performance of Charlie Chaplin’s “Smile.” Michelle Visage was so impressed she compared Charlotte’s vocal trills to Mariah Carey. While Louis Walsh jokingly poked fun at her father’s piano playing on the backing track, the judges were unanimous in their praise for her voice, awarding her four “yeses” and labeling her a superstar in the making.

The energy shifted from traditional to experimental with Orla McCormack, a 24-year-old professional character performer. Orla brought a unique “Britney-meets-Marilyn” act to the stage, performing “Oops!… I Did It Again” in the breathy, iconic style of Marilyn Monroe. While the act initially earned a red buzzer, the judges were quickly won over by Orla’s charm and technical commitment to the character. Michelle Visage praised her for her talent and beauty, and the panel eventually turned their skepticism into support. Orla walked away with the “yeses” she needed to move forward, proving that on the IGT stage, sometimes a risky “twist” is exactly what’s needed to win over the crowd.
