Slash’s Protégé? 10-Year-Old Bay Melnick Virgolino Shreds Lenny Kravitz on AGT!

The Next Generation of Rock: 10-Year-Old Bay Melnick Virgolino Shreds on the AGT Stage

Every so often, a young performer steps onto the America’s Got Talent stage and completely dismantles any preconceived notions about what a kid can do. That was exactly the case when 10-year-old New Yorker Bay Melnick Virgolino walked out holding an electric guitar that looked almost as big as he was. Inspired to play at just five years old due to a childhood obsession with Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, Bay proved that rock and roll is alive, well, and in very young hands.

Performing Lenny Kravitz’s iconic anthem “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” Bay didn’t just play the song—he completely owned the stage. From the opening chords, he delivered a high-octane performance filled with complex guitar riffs, effortless stage presence, and a gritty vocal delivery that had the audience roaring. Returning judge Mel B was ecstatic, noting that Lenny Kravitz himself would be incredibly proud of the performance. Sofia Vergara labeled him a “mini tiny little superstar,” while Howie Mandel called him one of the coolest 10-year-olds he had ever met.

The performance also struck a personal chord with Simon Cowell. Simon shared that his own son, Eric, has recently been learning the drums, making him appreciate just how special it must feel for Bay’s parents to watch their son command a crowd of thousands with such ease. With a unanimous sweep of four “yeses,” Bay’s life changed in a single evening, cementing his status as a certified pint-sized rockstar to watch this season.
